Dennis Smith Jr. Struggles In Loss To The Lakers
6 years agoDallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. had an all-around dreadful performance against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. He shot a putrid 2-of-9 from the field and matched his three assists, with three turnovers, in 22 minutes. The low minutes can be explained by the fact that the Mavericks got throttled when he was in the game, evidenced by his -29 plus/minus. Backup J.J. Barea was also much better, as he was a team-high +28. The Mavericks still have a ton of trust in him and he shouldn't lose minutes to his backups often, unless he's flat out terrible, like he was last night. Unfortunately for owners, they’ll have to live through the inconsistencies that come with being a young point guard. Smith Jr. will look to bounce back against the New York Knicks on Friday night.
