Deion Jones 2021 Outlook: A Model of Consistency at Linebacker
3 years agoDeion Jones continued to be a steady producer at the linebacker position in 2020 for the Atlanta Falcons. The fifth-year linebacker totaled 106 tackles (73 solo) with nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. While the Falcons defense wasn't strong last year, Jones continued to show that he is remarkably consistent at the linebacker position regardless of the talent around him. Jones had his fourth season with multiple interceptions and triple-digit tackles while playing 16 games for the third time in his career. The breakout of fellow linebacker Foye Oluokun takes some pressure off of Jones at the linebacker position, but he still will factor in heavily in coverage and will continue to be a presence recording sound tackles. We can't count on Jones to generate sacks (his career-high before 2020 was just 1.0), which dings him a bit in IDP rankings. That being said, he is still a top-15 linebacker in this format because of his excellent floor as a tackler and penchant for generating turnovers.
