Nelson Cruz Unlikely To Decline In 2018
7 years agoSeattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz produced another elite season in 2017, slashing .288/.375/.549 with 28 doubles, 39 home runs, 91 runs scored and 119 runs batted in. Seattle's offense sputtered most of the season, but that didn't effect the veteran run producer. Cruz now has five seasons of 30 home runs or more and four seasons of more than 90 runs batted in. The 38-year old seems to continue to improve in the latter stages of his career and hit .340 with 18 extra base hits in 147 at-bats with runners in scoring position in 2017. Cruz has proved to be an excellent free agent signing for Seattle, hitting .302, .287 and .288 in his first three seasons with the Mariners. He is also slugging .550 during that span making him perhaps the most coveted designated hitter in fantasy. Another 30 or more home runs and 100 runs batted in is a fair expectation for Cruz in 2018.
