Davis Wendzel Out At Least Two Weeks With Wrist Sprain
3 years agoTexas Rangers third baseman Davis Wendzel (wrist) will be out at least two weeks with a left wrist sprain. It's the same wrist that he suffered a hamate injury to, but it's not the same injury. The Rangers hope Wendzel can begin baseball activities by the middle of next week. The team's No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has hit .241/.392/.362 with two home runs and seven RBI in 18 games (74 plate appearances) with Double-A Frisco so far in 2021. Wendzel is one of the more polished hitters in Texas' system and has a gap-to-gap approach at the plate from the right side. The 24-year-old has the strength to hit over 20 homers a season and is a solid defender at the hot corner. Wendzel could be more of a utility player when he reaches the major leagues, as he's also seen time at shortstop, second base and the outfield.
