Davies Puts Together Another Gem
4 years agoChicago Cubs starter Zach Davies was impressive in the Cubs shutdown of the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday. The soft-tossing righty perplexed Padres hitters throughout the game allowing only three base runners, two walks, and a Fernando Tatis Jr. Since the start of May, Davies has now quietly registered six starts of one earned run or fewer, lowering his ERA from 9.47 to a far more manageable 4.45. A rare pitcher who never strikes out hitters at a high clip, Davies' four K's across six innings was only one short of tying his season-high. Slated to take on the Mets in Flushing in his next start, expect the light throwing righty to continue his streak of confounding hitters. Certainly no fantasy stalwart, Davies can still be deployed strategically to drop ERA and WHIP numbers for teams when facing off against the right matchups.
