David Peralta: An Unexciting Late Pick To Occupy a Final Spot in Your Outfield
4 years agoPeralta finished in the Top 15 in BA last year with a ,300 BA, but that number is revealed to be stilted when you consider the .361 BABIP. Peralta's xBA was .263. He certainly is not an asset in power anymore, as the ISO has fallen 90 points over the past three seasons. Peralta has not made any real adjustments in Launch Angle, as his number remained in a consistent range at 6.4. The Exit Velocity also dipped a bit to 89.2 and the Hard Hit % fell from 40.9 to 36.3. There is no real reason for optimism at age 33. You are only going to get a mediocre to decent BA out of Peralta with some respectable pop. He is not making any apparent adjustments to his approach and trying to maintain his ho-hum levels of production. Peralta's ADP of 273 demonstrates what he is truly is, a player with little to no upside who you hope does not continue to fade if you settle for him as a late final pick for your outfield. Peralta did finish well in September/October, at .333 with 11 RBI. He will continue to hit sixth or seventh in the Arizona lineup. If you find yourself sighing and taking Peralta late, he figures to be just a decent stopgap in your lineup until you find someone more appealing.
