David Hess Moved To Bullpen, Josh Rogers To Start Wednesday
6 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles are moving starting pitcher David Hess to the bullpen for the second time this season. Josh Rogers will start in his place on Wednesday against the A's. Manager Brandon Hyde said the team will likely play with the No. 5 spot in the rotation the rest of the year. Hess is 1-9 with a 7.20 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, 53 K's, 27 walks and a league-high 20 home runs allowed in 65 innings (13 starts, one relief outing), so this move was long overdue. Rogers has a 7.88 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in eight innings of relief for Baltimore this year. He had an even worse 8.49 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 4.6 K/9 in three starts in 2018, so he should not be a streaming option next week in any league.
