D.J. Stewart Has Microfracture Surgery
5 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder D.J. Stewart (ankle) underwent successful microfracture surgery on his right ankle on Thursday. Stewart is expected to return to baseball activities near the end of spring training. Microfracture procedures aren't your typical surgery, so Stewart should be expected to miss the start of the 2020 regular season, and he could be slowed upon his return. The 25-year-old played in just 44 games for the O's this year, hitting .238/.317/.381 with four home runs and 15 RBI. There is opportunity for him in Baltimore's outfield moving forward, but he'll have to prove his health and win a job before fantasy owners take notice.
