The Chicago Cubs selected Dallas Baptist pitcher Burl Carraway with the 51st overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Carraway was initially recruited as a center fielder out of high school and made a big leap as a pitcher in his sophomore year by averaging 15.6 strikeouts per nine innings as the team's closer. He became the first player in school history to make the U.S. collegiate national team. Carraway has an overpowering fastball and nasty looping curveball, both of which have high spin rates. He's not overly physical at 6-foot and features a lot of effort in his high three-quarters delivery, which makes him strictly a reliever. Because of his role in high-leverage situations, the left-hander has a great chance to reach the majors sooner than later.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
