The Chicago Cubs selected Mt. Carmel High School shortstop Ed Howard with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. Howard was the best prep prospect at his position coming into this draft, so the Cubs might have a steal on their hands here. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder makes consistent, hard contact at the plate with impressive bat speed and a projectable frame for his position. Howard should develop above-average power and also has solid speed on the base paths. The 18-year-old should be able to stick at the 6 because of his smooth movements and because of his ability to make all the plays at the toughest infield position.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
