Courtland Sutton 2021 Outlook: Out of Sight, Out of Mind No More
4 years agoWe haven't seen Courtland Sutton since 2019 where he finished as the WR28, averaging 13.8 ppg. Sutton flashed elite WR1 skills, but it's difficult to say anything about him screamed future elite WR1. Then, in 2020, Sutton's third-year breakout was derailed immediately by a Week 1 torn ACL. It appears the fantasy community has forgotten about Sutton. Given that he tore his ACL so early last season, he will be fully healthy to start the 2021 season and ready to pick up where he left off. Sutton was and is an ascending talent. His WR28 finish wasn't necessarily great, but he hit double digit fantasy points 11 times and posted WR1 level production six times. Sutton has the physical profile of a dominant outside receiver. Quarterback play remains a concern, but Teddy Bridgewater is going to take over for Drew Lock sooner rather than later and we saw Bridgewater produce three fantasy relevant WRs last season in Carolina. Sutton remains the WR1 in Denver and should lead the team in targets, which will be consolidated heavily between Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Noah Fant. Unlike some of the receivers going ahead of him in drafts, Sutton's upside and progression are not baked into his WR3 price. Sutton's ADP may spike once we see preseason action and are reminded of his talent, but, for now, he remains one of the best values in fantasy football - a WR3 with WR1 upside.
