Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid became the first player to hit 40 points in the NHL this season. He reached the mark with his 18th goal of the campaign in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Chicago and also already started to move towards 50 points with his 23rd assist. The Oilers captain has now reached the 40-point plateau in a season with 23 or fewer games for the fourth time, and Wayne Gretzky (11x) and Mario Lemieux (7x) are the only player in league history to do it more times. McDavid has built himself a five-point lead on the top scorer's list, and with 23 games played, he has gone without a point just four times. Look for him to hit even more milestones in December.--Taavi Pailk
