Connor Hellebuyck Puts Forth Valiant Effort In Game 2 Loss
7 years agoWinnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck posted 36 saves on 41 shots in the double-overtime loss against the Nashville Predators in Game 2. After stopping 47 shots to completely stonewall the Predators offense in Game 1, they finally figured out Hellebuyck. Getting traffic in front of the net and not letting Hellebuyck get eyes on the puck was the key factor in Game 2, and it could have been much worse for the Jets netminder. The defensemen alone had 18 blocked shots and the team blocked 30 shots altogether. Hellebuyck's numbers on paper might seem unfavorable, but there is no need to blame him for the night, as the game was close and the Predators inched out a better performance. Game 3 will be another hard-fought battle, but Hellebuyck has been stellar at home this postseason, winning all three games and posting a .955 save percentage and two shutouts. He should be the difference maker Tuesday and is a great pickup in DFS leagues.
