Connor Bedard Hands Out Two Assists In Blackhawks Debut
1 year agoChicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard made his first appearance for the team in Thursday's preseason game against St. Louis, helping his side to a 2-1 overtime victory with two assists. The 18-year-old phenom set up Andreas Athanasiou for the game-winning goal with 58 seconds left in overtime and also tallied an assist when Philipp Kurashev opened the scoring in the contest in the middle of the second frame. Bedard led all Blackhawks forwards with 21:20 of ice time, adding five shots on goal and one hit to his tally while finishing with a plus-two rating. It was a great outing from the first-overall pick, but Bedard wasn't completely satisfied with his first NHL appearance. "I felt pretty good and comfortable and stuff, but I think I could do a lot better," he said after the game. "I don't know if there was a surprise. Obviously less room, but that's nothing I didn't expect, so just kind of get used to it here."
