Concern About Trevor Story's Bone Structure
8 months agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said there is concern about the bone structure of shortstop Trevor Story's shoulder after he dislocated his left shoulder last Friday against the Los Angeles Angels while diving for a ball in the infield. Story is going to Los Angeles to get a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Thursday. The 31-year-old could require surgery to fix the subluxation in his shoulder, and while there's no exact timetable for when he might return, going under the knife could potentially keep Story out for the rest of the 2024 season. Because nothing is official yet, fantasy managers shouldn't straight up drop Story, but you should be prepared for an extended absence either way. In the meantime, the Red Sox are planning for a platoon at short between Romy Gonzalez and David Hamilton. Eventually, Vaughn Grissom (groin, hamstring) could also be an option at the 6.
