Colt Emerson 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Young Shortstop Looks Ready to Make MLB Debut with Seattle
To begin the season, there seems to be a logjam in the infield of the Seattle Mariners, which would prevent 20-year-old shortstop Colt Emerson from making the Opening Day roster. But if he continues to hit as he did across the minor leagues in 2025, Emerson is going to start forcing the issue. In 130 games across three levels last season, Emerson, the 22nd overall pick in 2023, hit .285/.383/.458 with 16 home runs, 14 steals, and 84 runs. He is blocked by J.P. Crawford right now, but his ascension to the big club is a given at some point this season. J.P. Crawford could easily slide over to D.H. in place of Dominic Canzone or find the bench this year. Emerson is the number 11 overall prospect despite his young age, and his hit tools and defense are all above average. It might be just half a season, but Emerson brings an intriguing power and speed combo to Seattle this year.
