Collin Sexton 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoCleveland Cavaliers point guard Collin Sexton had a rough start to his NBA career, but as the season progressed, he ended up being one of the best rookies in franchise history. In March, Sexton became the first Cavs rookie to score at least 23 points in seven consecutive games. Overall, he was the first rookie to enjoy such scoring run in the league since Tim Duncan in 1998. Sexton also became the only first-year player in NBA history to play at least 2000 minutes while averaging over 16 points per game with a 40 percent three-point efficiency and registering fewer than three turnovers per game (2.3). The 20-year-old points guard ended up averaging 16.7 points and three assists for the year. He piled up 20.8 points a night following the All-Star break and ended his rookie year by scoring at least 20 points in 13 of his last 17 games, so the Cavs and fantasy owners can expect him to be a reliable scorer in 2019-20. Getting at least five dimes per game should be a goal of his, although that could prove to be difficult after Cleveland selected another point guard Darius Garland with their top pick in the 2019 draft.
