Cole Custer and his Ford start all the way down in 23rd for Sunday's Ambetter 301. However, he does have an average finish of 11.0 the last two appearances. The "Magic Mile" has been far kinder to him than most. Even last year, Custer did drop to 14th but ran in the top ten during most of the final stage. In 2020, he finished in 8th. Most of his places gained were on that final stage. Keep in mind, Custer was a good deal off the pace after Stage 2 both times. It is not how he starts but his Ford finishes. Even two years ago, Custer was gaining several tenths a second but ran out of laps. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
