Clint Frazier 2020 Outlook: Not Guaranteed At-Bats In Current Situation
5 years agoWe finally saw Clint Frazier play more extensively at the big league level last year, and the returns were mixed. Injuries pressed him into action and Frazier looked ready for the big stage early, hitting .324 with six home runs and 17 RBI in April. He was much less effective at .219 /4/11 in May and he then fell out of favor because of defensive issues. Frazier also became a distraction to the team in a variety of incidents that included battles with the media. He was eventually sent down to the minor leagues and hit .176 when he returned in September, which contributed to his absence from the Yankees’ postseason roster. Now he has a murky outlook entering 2020, as he may have to battle for a roster spot and there continues to be trade speculation surrounding him. There still is some potential in his bat, as he had a Barrel % of 10.8 last year with a Hard Hit % of 35.3 and a xSLG of .459. But his xBA was just .245. A trade might help Frazier’s fortunes, as he could get a fresh start somewhere else. His ADP of 523.64 indicates he will be avoided in many drafts, and that makes sense. He certainly won’t be useful unless he is traded or injuries strike the New York outfield again.
