In a bit of a mild surprise, Christopher Bell will start seventh after qualifying on Friday afternoon at Martinsville. Bell was fast but then it started to vanish. It was why data trended in the wrong direction. The No. 20 was one of the few who did not run longer than 15 laps. It will be intriguing to see if there are less cautions on Saturday night than usual. Bell has managed one top-ten result in four career starts.
