Christian Vazquez Continues Breakout Season
5 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two runs batted in, including a solo home run in Tuesday's win over Toronto. It's the third time this season that the 28-year-old has homered in back-to-back games; he now has 12 on the year. He's not only been one of the biggest surprises on his team, but at the catcher position this year. Prior to 2019, he had never hit more than five homers in a season or driven in more than 32, and he now has 36 this year. His 39.7 Hard Hit % is the highest of his career, so it's clear he's seeing the ball well. While it's hard to expect a pace like this to continue through the second half of the season, Vazquez is going to continue to get steady time behind the dish and should be owned in all fantasy formats at such a barren position.
