Christian Scott Likely To Rejoin Mets Rotation This Week
5 months agoPitcher Mike Vasil has leapfrogged New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Christian Scott in the Triple-A Syracuse starting rotation to start on Monday in what would normally be Scott's spot. It's a pretty good indication that Scott will be recalled to the majors to make another start for the Mets this week. The team currently has a TBA in their rotation for Wednesday's contest versus the division-rival Washington Nationals. Fantasy managers will want to jump on the 25-year-old right away, as he should stick around in New York's rotation, at least until the All-Star break in mid-July. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, held his own in his first five big-league starts earlier this year, going 0-2 with a 3.90 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 25 strikeouts in his 27 2/3 innings of work. Scott's workload will be monitored in the second half for sure, which limits his fantasy ceiling in 2024, but he can still be a deep-league streamer until then. UPDATE: Scott will return to start on Wednesday against the Nats, according to manager Carlos Mendoza.
