Chris Sale Looks to Maintain Top-Five SP Value
7 years agoChris Sale continues his dominance and is unquestionably an elite starting pitcher. In his first season in Boston, he proved worthy of the talent given up to acquire him from the White Sox. Sale achieved the remarkable feat of 300 strikeouts; it cannot be expected again in 2018, but few others have the potential. Sale had a league-best 36.2 strikeout percentage and an elite base on balls percentage of 5.1. He also had a 2.90 earned run average. The only miniscule amount of criticism that can be found is his drop in ERA in the second half (3.12) from the first half (2.75). However, his 2.97 field independent pitching in the second half demonstrates that even that criticism is not cause for concern. Sale has the resume and reliability to be the best starting pitcher in fantasy baseball in 2018. If you want Sale, you will have to get him in the second round, potentially in the first depending on your league-mates.
