Chris Owings Doubles, Steals Third
6 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman Chris Owings has been the least-hyped piece of the Royals middle-infield crew, but he could turn out to have some fantasy value. Owings doesn't have the elite hit tool that Whit Merrifield possesses and he certainly isn't going to win a foot race with Adalberto Mondesi, but Owings brings a well-rounded approach that has included seasons with 20-plus stolen bases and 10-plus home run pop. With the team regularly having Merrifield cover right while Mondesi takes second and Jorge Soler serves as the designated hitter, Owings gets plenty of starts at second. He's already got two stolen bases on the season, racking up a steal of third after hitting a double on Tuesday. He's not shining just yet, but Owings could bring some real value for fantasy owners, especially in deep leagues.
