7 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks have released catcher Chris Herrmann from the roster. Herrmann was in a platoon with Jeff Mathis last season, hitting 10 home runs with 27 RBI in 256 plate appearances. With the signing of Alex Avila, there was no need for the D'Backs to hold a third catcher on the roster. Herrmann does not hit or defend well enough to sign with another team and win a starting job. Barring injury, don't expect Herrmann to sign on for a starting job in the majors this season.--Jonathan Chan - Rotoballer
