Recent Update

8/2:Chicago Cubs catcher Alex Avila will make his Cubs debut on Wednesday against Arizona at Wrigley. Avila was having his best year since 2011 with Detroit hitting .274/.394/.475. Avila will help Willson Contreras get some occasional rest and offer some more experience than the young catcher. Avila’s lefty bat hits better against right-handed pitching while Contreras excels against lefties. If Avila does make starts over Contreras, it will more than likely be a day that a righty is starting on the mound.--Dan Hogan - RotoBaller
