Chris Godwin 2021 Outlook: A 2021 Value?
4 years agoIt seems that Rod Christopher Godwin has gone from one of the hottest fantasy receivers after his 2019 breakout season, to being stuck in the low-end WR1 conversation. This cold water is predominantly a result of an injury-plagued 2020 season and an offense that already possesses a multitude of big-name weapons. Despite this, in the 12 games Godwin played, he managed to average the 15th most fantasy points per game at the position (tied with Allen Robinson). Better yet, his production came from a good balance of yards and touchdowns; averaging the 17th most receiving yards and 0.58 touchdowns per game. Saying that this offense is potent is an understatement. With the Bucs returning every single starter from 2020, there is no reason this season should be different than 2020 where they averaged the second-most passing yards per game (289) and the 7th most pass attempts. As long as the Ageless Wonder (Tom Brady) remains ageless, there are plenty of fantasy points to go around. It is never bad to bet on Brady, making Godwin a low-end WR1 in 2021, who would be an elite second WR on any fantasy roster.
