Chris Archer Strikes Out Six In No-Decision

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer (hip) allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six over four innings during Sunday's 12-8 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He did not factor into the decision. His biggest mistake was surrendering a solo blast to Ryan Mountcastle in the third inning, but he was able to limit the Orioles to two runs on Sunday. The Rays right-hander threw 59 pitches, landing 41 for strikes. Archer exited his previous appearance early due to left hip tightness but could finish his first start from the injured list. He owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 16:3 K: BB over 10 1/3 innings in 2021. Archer will be on a pitch count in his next scheduled start against at home Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Despite the favorable matchup, the 32-year-old is mainly an option in deep-league formats.
