Chase Briscoe Overcomes Broken Finger To Finish Fifth
2 years agoChase Briscoe broke his finger earlier in the week while racing in Kyle Larson's Late Model Challenge at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Briscoe begged the doctors to let him race on the Bristol Dirt with a promise to follow up the next day to see if surgery would be required. Briscoe is another "dirt guy" that found success on Sunday, even with his late-race missteps. On Lap 224, Briscoe was passed by Tyler Reddick for second, and in an effort to get back at Reddick, he put his No. 14 Ford into the wall. Then with eight laps to go, the final restart saw Briscoe's car bottom out and get into Ryan Blaney, causing Blaney to spin and fall back in the field. Briscoe stated after the race he was not happy with himself for spinning Blaney, but he is happy with his best finish of the season, ending the day in fifth.
