1 year agoHouston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (back) was removed from Tuesday night's loss to the division-rival Seattle Mariners early after being hit by a pitch in the back in the ninth inning. McCormick had to be helped off the field by a trainer and manager Dusty Baker, so there's a good chance we won't see him in the starting lineup in another crucial game on Wednesday. But the Astros have an upcoming off day on Thursday before finishing the 2023 regular season with a three-game series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. For now, consider the 28-year-old to be day-to-day until we know more. The Astros can ill-afford to lose McCormick as they push for the playoffs as either the American League West champions or in a wild-card spot.
