Charlie Blackmon Comes Up Big
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon was tasked with the critical job on Saturday. With the team trailing by one run, Blackmon approached the plate in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs. Atlanta's closer, AJ Minter, was laboring after just walking two straight hitters, but Blackmon was the one who needed to get that critical run home. Blackmon jumped on the first pitch he saw and ripped a liner over the head of Freddie Freeman at first base, scoring two and putting Colorado up permanently. Blackmon started the season slowly, but the game-winning double extended his hit streak to 10 games, and he's been filling up score sheets for the last two weeks. Blackmon is back, and he's producing like the stud he was drafted to be.
