Chargers Put Austin Ekeler On Injured Reserve
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers placed running back Austin Ekeler (hamstring) on Injured Reserve on Friday and promoted Tyron Johnson to their active roster in a corresponding move. The team also signed former Dolphins and Jets running back Kalen Ballage to their practice squad. Ekeler could miss anywhere from four to six weeks, so placing him on the short-term IR isn't a big surprise. Keep the Chargers lead back stashed on your roster, though, as he'll return later this year. Rookie Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson should share the backfield duties in the meantime, with Kelley the favorite to see more touches on a weekly basis. Kelley will be on the RB2/3 borderline in Week 5 against the Saints, while Jackson is merely a deep league flex consideration.
