Carson Wentz to Work Out for Vikings
Carson Wentz will work out for the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports. Since going second overall to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 draft, Wentz has combined for 98 appearances (94 starts), completed 62.7% of passes, and thrown 153 touchdowns against 67 interceptions for five different teams. The former star, 32, has settled into a backup role over the past couple of years and spent 2024 behind Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. The Vikings have a clear-cut starter in J.J. McCarthy, a first-round pick in 2024 who will debut this year, with Sam Howell, Brett Rypien, and Max Brosmer in reserve. Howell and Rypien each bring experience to the table, but Brosmer - an undrafted rookie from the University of Minnesota - was easily the most impressive of the three in the preseason. If the Vikings keep Brosmer and sign Wentz, the latter could bump one of the other veteran QBs off the roster.
