The Kansas City Royals placed first baseman Carlos Santana (ankle) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. He is dealing with right ankle bursitis. The move to the injured list is retroactive to May 3. In a corresponding move, the Royals called up third baseman Emmanuel Rivera from Triple-A. Santana has just four extra-base hits over 21 games this year (one home run, three doubles) and he's slashing .159/.312/.254. Ryan O'Hearn should fill in as the team's primary first baseman while Santana is out.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
