Carlos Correa Withdraws From World Baseball Classic
2 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa has withdrawn from the 2023 World Baseball Classic after making a joint decision with the Twins. Correa's wife is due with the couple's second child the same week that Puerto Rico opens play in the WBC, and the Twins don't want Correa juggling family and the WBC. The 28-year-old agreed to long-term deals with both the Giants and Mets this offseason before those deals ultimately fell apart due to concerns about his ankle during the physical. Outside of stolen bases, Correa should remain a strong contributor at the shortstop position for fantasy managers in 2023. He doesn't have the kind of upside he had in Houston, though, and his long-term prognosis could be shaky if his health deteriorates quickly.
