Cam Newton Remains Patriots Starting QB
4 years agoNew England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick decisively said that "Cam's our quarterback" after the 24-3 loss to the Rams on Thursday night in Week 14. Newton was pulled early in the fourth quarter for Jarrett Stidham after finishing just 9-for-16 for 119 yards and an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Stidham, a fourth-round pick in 2019, was the top candidate to replace Tom Brady under center until the team signed Newton on July 8. Newton has run for 451 yards on 113 carries for 11 touchdowns this year, but he's just 199-for-301 for 2,172 yards passing with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions through the air. The 31-year-old will be a QB2 with rushing upside in Week 15 against the Dolphins.
