Cam Newton Expected To Start In Week 14
3 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he expects quarterback Cam Newton to start in Week 14 against the Atlanta Falcons. Newton looked terrible in the Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins before the team's bye, going just 5-for-21 (23.8 completion percentage) for 92 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. The 32-year-old was benched late in that game, and it's unclear if P.J. Walker will have some sort of role alongside Newton this week. Newton is clearly not the same player he was when he won an MVP award in Carolina earlier in his career, but he can still use his legs to be effective as a low-end QB streamer, especially in a good matchup against Atlanta. Newton hasn't done much throwing the football in his three starts for the Panthers, but he has added 16 rushing attempts for 65 yards (4.06 yards per carry) and has scored in all three games on the ground.
