Calvin Ridley 2021 Outlook: Ready To Assert His Status Among Game's Elite
4 years agoAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was one of the game's better receivers in his first two seasons, but he took things to a new level in 2020, asserting himself as a must-start option for fantasy managers. Ridley racked up 90 catches for 1,374 yards and scored nine touchdowns to finish as the WR4 in PPR leagues. He emerged as one of the game's premier downfield threats, leading the league with 1,099 yards before the catch while posting a healthy 14.3-yard average depth of target. Ridley saw a massive uptick in targets last season as 143 balls were thrown his way, 50 more than he saw in 2019. With Julio Jones out of Atlanta, Ridley is the undisputed top-option in one of the NFL's most pass-happy offenses. Atlanta ranked fourth, first, and fifth in passing attempts in the last three seasons and has been top-five in passing yards every year since Ridley's rookie season in 2018. 120 targets should be considered the baseline for Ridley which should be plenty for another 1,000-yard season. Draft Ridley with confidence as a top-five receiver within the top-20 picks in fantasy drafts.
