Los Angeles Kings goaltender Calvin Petersen was placed on waivers Wednesday. This is a very surprising move from the team, considering that Petersen has only just started the first season of a three-year deal worth $15 million, but his $5 million cap hit makes it very unlikely that somebody claims him. Petersen earned the nice contact with a couple of strong seasons, but he has had a miserable time in 2022-23 and the move comes after the 28-year-old allowed four goals on 16 shots in a relief effort against Seattle Tuesday night. His record at 5-3-2 isn't too bad, but Petersen has a horrible 3.75 goals-against average and a .868 save percentage. It looks like Petersen could now be set for a stint in the AHL, with the Kings hoping that maybe he rediscovers some of his old form.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
