Byron Buxton Says He'll Be Ready
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (foot), who was carted off the field on Monday night with a sprained left foot, said he will be ready for Opening Day next Friday. "I'm playing. I'm playing. I ain't worried about that. I'll be there. ... I feel too good to let this beat me," Buxton said. We've heard the 26-year-old say similar things before and not return, so take the oft-injured outfielder's words with a grain of salt. Buxton has immense power-speed upside if he ever can manage to stay healthy over a full season, though. In just 87 games for Minnesota in 2019, Buxton hit .262/.314/.513 with 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 48 runs and 14 stolen bases. He's still a popular sleeper in the middle rounds, but don't assume he'll be ready by next Friday.
