Brock Purdy Focusing On His Rehab
2 years agoDespite San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan making it clear that quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) has the inside track on the starting job in 2023, Purdy is only thinking about getting his right elbow back to full strength. He suffered a torn UCL in the NFC Championship game against the Eagles in January and had an internal brace surgery on his right elbow on March 10. Purdy was initially expected to need around six months of rehab, but the 49ers and Purdy have declined to put a specific timetable on when he'll be cleared to return. The team hopes he can resume throwing around the 12-week mark on June 2. The 23-year-old is in the early stages of rehab but described it as "going really well." The most important thing is that he was able to avoid Tommy John surgery.
