Brevin Jordan: A Rookie Tight End To Keep A Close Eye On
4 years agoBrevin Jordan was a highly recruited tight end prospect out of Las Vegas, Nevada, who turned in three All-ACC seasons during his brief three-year tenure in Miami. Despite an illustrious collegiate career and a high pedigree as a prospect, Jordan fell to the fifth round where the Houston Texans selected him. Entering the draft, most prognosticators pegged Jordan as a top-five tight end. Yet, he was drafted after eight other tight ends first came off the board, including surprises such as Georgia's Tre McKitty, Boise State's John Bates, and SMU's Kylen Granson. The Texans feature an established starter in Jordan Akins, but there should be opportunities for Jordan to compete for the second tight end spot with Pharaoh Brown, Kahale Warring, and Paul Quessenberry. Whether Jordan can add any value as a blocker, which was considered a possible shortcoming of his in the draft process, might dictate how early he can get on the field. Without consideration for who might be throwing the ball to Texans receivers this year, as a secondary tight end option, Jordan is worth monitoring for his knack in the red zone, as evidenced by his seven touchdowns in only eight games played in 2020, but there won't be any need to select him during your fantasy draft.
