Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brent Burns logged two power-play assists as the team kicked off the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the Islanders. The veteran rearguard capped off the regular season with a three-game goal streak, and he maintained his good offensive form in the playoff opener, becoming the oldest defenseman in Hurricanes/Whalers history to record a postseason point. Burns, who turned 38 in March, has started his first playoff campaign since 2019. He has now tallied 64 points across 95 career playoff outings, sitting fourth among all active blue-liners.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
