Brendan Donovan Leaves After Being Hit By Pitch
8 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan (elbow) left Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the San Diego Padres after being hit by a pitch on his elbow in the top of the eighth inning. Rookie Michael Siani replaced Donovan in left field for the Cardinals. Donovan was hit by two pitches on Wednesday, with the second one knocking him out of the contest in the series finale. The 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day until we have more information on the severity of his elbow injury. It remains to be seen if he'll be available to play in the team's home opener on Thursday versus the visiting Miami Marlins. Before leaving late in the game, Donovan went 1-for-2 to raise his early season average to .308. If Donovan doesn't play on Thursday, either Alec Burleson or Siani will likely get a start in the outfield for St. Louis next to Victor Scott II and Jordan Walker.
