The Milwaukee Brewers selected outfielder Braylon Payne with the 17th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Payne is credited as being one of the fastest players in the draft class. In addition, Payne is coming directly from high school and will not turn 18 until next month and is one of the youngest players in the class. Scouts credit the young outfielder's ability to use his quick hands when swinging which allows him to hit grounders, which is complemented quite well with his elite speed. While he may not have much power when looking at his fellow rookies, his ability to wreak havoc on the basepaths is unmatched. As a result, Payne will likely be placed in center field on the defensive side of things but will remain several seasons away from reaching the major leagues due to his young age.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
