Brayan Bello Shut Down With Forearm Soreness
2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that right-hander Brayan Bello (forearm) has been shut down briefly due to right forearm soreness that he experienced in his last bullpen session when he threw a lot of breaking balls. Bello is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday. "We're very confident Monday he's back on his throwing program," Cora said. It's early in spring training, so most teams aren't taking any chances with minor injuries. Barring a setback, the 23-year-old should be ready for the start of the 2023 season. Bello was demoted to the minors in early August after his first taste of the majors didn't go so well, but he showed improvement when he returned to close out the year. He's still young and has control issues, but the strikeout upside is certainly there, and he has the stuff to become a rotation staple for the BoSox.
