The Atlanta Braves are expected to announce the signing of 17-year-old Venezuelan shortstop Jose Perdomo to a $5 million signing bonus, which is a team-record bonus and is expected to be the largest bonus given to a prospect during the international signing period that began on Monday. Perdomo has highly-rated bat-to-ball skills and a short swing that produces a high contact rate. Some who have seen his defensive improvement in the last year think he could stay at shortstop, rather than move to second or third base as initially projected. Perdomo doesn't have a ton of power right now, but he's shown more potential growth in that area with strength gained since he first drew notice at a 2023 showcase in Florida.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
