4 months agoThe Atlanta Braves re-signed outfielder Nick Markakis to a one-year, $4 million deal on Monday, according to sources. This comes after the team declined his $6 million option and gave him a $2 million buyout. The 35-year-old continued to hit for a high average (.285) because of a high contact rate, but he didn't do a whole lot else for fantasy owners with nine home runs, 62 RBI and two stolen bases in 414 at-bats. Markakis has never been a huge power guy and doesn't run at all either, so there's very little upside to his game as he approaches the end of his career. He's a much better real-life player for Atlanta than a fantasy one.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
