Brandon Workman Secures Seventh Save
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Brandon Workman struck two of the three batters he faced en route to his seventh save of the season in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Angels. He's off to a good start in August, posting four consecutive scoreless outings, while notching two saves and a 5/0 K/BB. Workman seems to have also secured the full-time closer role for the Red Sox, after lackluster performances from Matt Barnes and Ryan Brasier all season. Workman carries a 1.92 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 71 K in 51 2/3 innings. Expect these opportunities to keep coming, so long as he continues to get the job done, so pick him up before someone else does.
