Brandon Sutter Announces Retirement
1 year agoVeteran center Brandon Sutter has announced his retirement from the NHL after the Edmonton Oilers released him from his professional tryout with the team. Sutter attempted to make a comeback after sitting out the past two seasons. The 34-year-old was unable to play because of long COVID. Sutter was the 11th pick in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. He debuted with the team in 2009-10 and played three seasons with the Hurricane before moving on to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following three years in Pittsburgh, Sutter joined the Vancouver Canucks in 2015. He logged 770 regular-season games in the league and tallied 289 points (152 goals, 137 assists).
